At the heart of my mission is a commitment to empowering female business owners to build and grow successful businesses that not only support them and their families but also create lasting positive impacts in their local communities. Research shows that when women earn an income, they reinvest up to 90% of it back into their families and communities, compared to 30-40% for men. I believe that when women lead businesses, they create ripples of change that go beyond economic growth, fostering stronger, more resilient communities. By supporting a network of strong, empowered female entrepreneurs, I aim to contribute to a future where thriving businesses are the norm, and every woman has the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in her world.

Meet Sarah Thomson
Digital coach, educator, and your marketing cheerleader.
I help women in business go from overwhelmed and invisible to confident and clear when it comes to showing up online. Through coaching, training, and real talk, I take the stress out of digital marketing — and turn it into something that actually works.
I started Online Social Butterfly in 2011… on a bit of a whim, really. I’d just left a corporate career that drained me. I had two young boys, a husband I barely saw, and a deep sense that something had to change.
So I quit — with no plan, no backup, and honestly, no idea what I was doing. I thought, “I’ve worked in marketing forever — surely running a business will be easy.”
Spoiler: it wasn’t.
No one wanted to hire me. Not at first. But after a few awkward no’s, someone said yes — on the condition I focused on their online marketing. I said “Sure, I can do that!” and then figured it out as I went (sound familiar?).
That yes changed everything.
In 2014, I ran my very first Facebook workshop — “Manage Your Facebook Page in 10 Minutes a Day or Less.” It lit a fire in me, and it hasn’t gone out since.
Since then, I’ve taught thousands of business owners, spoken on stages, launched sell-out courses, run powerful masterminds, and created an incredible community of women who want more from their marketing — and from themselves.
I still work from home here in Perth, often side-by-side with my husband Grant (yep, we share an office!), and we’re always on hand for our sporty teenage boys and their never-ending taxi schedule 🚗💨
